Tips for startup bloggers.

Updated: Mar 8, 2021

I’m guessing you already know about the common ones, consider your passions, blogs you read, present solutions to problems, etcetera.

Now, let me give you the tips you need, the ones you’ve not been reading about too often.

1.Write to a specific person

When writing out your blog, you got to have that one character in your head, not a real person that you know, it’s that guy you like to call your “target audience”. Envision your target audience as a person.

Build him up with the knowledge that you’ll be posting on your blog, you will develop a kind of understanding and relate to this character, and, in the long run, this might even act as a guide to you as to what you should write about next because you know what information Marvin needs ( I called him Marvin ).

2.Include videos and visual pieces

Statistics have shown that videos attract 300% more traffic and that 87.5% of marketers use visual pieces in over half their blogs.

3. Copy from the pros

I can’t stress this one enough. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The same applies here, if there are proven techniques to go about it, don’t overthink it, because chances are, you’ll still come back to the same method.

And I’m not talking about plagiarism here, don’t get me wrong, plagiarism is illegal and could land you into some deep stuff, so you’ll want to steer clear.

4. Did I mention plugins?

Plugins are pieces of software that you can add to your browser to give you added functionality. A good example here, and we’ll not go so far, is a plagiarism checker.

In the spirit of steering away from plagiarism, because it mostly happens accidentally (or so most people claim) you’d want to have this tool.

Plugins can be downloaded from the internet and almost all of them are free or at least have free plans.

Another tool that can be used to check plagiarism (whether it's from your content or to check whether your content has been copied and take immediate steps to have it removed) is Copyscape.

5. Be kind to yourself

This is important if you’re starting. Pressure will be there because there are people who have come before you. People who are already running successful blogs earning multi figures.

You should remember that they didn’t start earning that much. And that you can also get there in the long run but at the moment you need to be kind to yourself and give yourself room to grow.

6. Write daily and Publish regularly

The trick to making it as a blogger is consistency. But since writing is your passion this should come almost naturally to you. What I’m saying is that it won’t be easy but you’ll surely get the hang of it.
